Halloween Party Mass Shooting Leaves 2 Dead 13 Injured Robeson County NC

Two separate shootings in North Carolina over the weekend left multiple people wounded and killed. Late Saturday in downtown Durham near North Carolina Central University police assisting with a large party heard gunfire and later found two women with gunshot wounds—one with non-life-threatening injuries and another critically wounded; both were taken to a local hospital and are not believed to be NC Central students. Early Saturday at about 1:15 a.m., a mass shooting at a large outdoor/house Halloween party near Maxton in Robeson County left two people dead (including a 16-year-old) and multiple others shot; officials reported 13 people were shot while some outlets initially reported 11 wounded. Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said the violence stemmed from a confrontation between groups, that multiple shooters and weapons may have been involved, and that many attendees were underage with alcohol present; social media footage reportedly showed guns and drinking. More than 150 to roughly 300 people fled before deputies arrived, no arrests had been announced as of Saturday afternoon, and local, state and federal agencies are investigating and asking witnesses to come forward as hospitals continue treating several people in critical condition.
