Arab Groups Launch Boycott of Disney's 'Snow White' Over Gal Gadot's Israeli Ties

A coalition of Arab groups has initiated a boycott of Disney's live-action 'Snow White,' primarily due to the film's lead actress, Gal Gadot, who is a former Israeli Defense Forces soldier. These organizations, including the Jordanian Organization for Resistance Support and Anti-Normalization and the Bahraini Association for Resistance to Normalization, claim that Gadot's involvement in the film symbolizes an attempt to 'whitewash the occupation' and asked for a cultural boycott of all films featuring Israeli actors. The campaign emphasizes that screening the movie in Arab regions equates to endorsing a corporation that supports Israeli actions against Palestinians. Activists have circulated hashtags like #BoycottSnowWhite and have called for cinema owners not to screen the film. Despite the backlash, 'Snow White' managed to earn $87.3 million globally shortly after its release. The boycott also extends to other films featuring Israeli talent, as part of a broader cultural resistance against normalization with Israel.
