Toronto Man Sentenced 15 Years for Barrie Rape, Drug Trafficking Spree

Two significant drug-related criminal cases resulted in lengthy prison sentences recently. Keynan Ismail, a 30-year-old Toronto man, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for a crime spree in Barrie during 2023 involving rape, cocaine and crack trafficking, and gun offenses; he led a group nicknamed the “Snowman” and committed violent sexual assaults while armed, with his sentence slightly reduced due to harsh pre-sentence jail conditions. Separately, Liam Kerwick, aged 38 from Hatfield, was sentenced to over 15 years for conspiracy to supply cocaine, possession of weapons, and criminal property related to a £2 million drug seizure in Hertfordshire, which dismantled part of a drug distribution gang. Additionally, a 19-year-old woman in Cyprus was sentenced to 14 years for smuggling nearly 9 kg of cocaine through Larnaca airport, marking one of the largest recent drug seizures there. Law enforcement emphasized community cooperation in these operations, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and related violent crimes to improve public safety.
