Notting Hill Carnival Murder Trial: Mother Stabbed in Front of Daughter

Cher Maximen, a 32-year-old mother, was fatally stabbed with a 'zombie knife' during the Notting Hill Carnival on August 25, 2024, as she celebrated with her three-year-old daughter. The alleged attacker, Shakeil Thibou, 20, is accused of stabbing Maximen in the groin after engaging in a violent altercation with another man, which witnesses described as horrifying. Prosecutor Ed Brown KC noted that moments before the stabbing, Thibou attempted to stab a man named Adjei Isaac, narrowly missing him. Following the attack, Maximen suffered severe injuries that led to cardiac arrest and a hysterectomy before succumbing to her injuries after being in an induced coma. Thibou is on trial alongside his brothers, who face separate charges related to the incident, including violent disorder and assaulting police officers. The trial includes body-worn video footage of the chaotic scene, emphasizing the shocking nature of the violence that erupted at what was meant to be a family-friendly event.
