Jacob Tobey Hired as Spurs Announcer

The San Antonio Spurs have officially announced Jacob Tobey as their new TV play-by-play announcer, succeeding longtime broadcaster Bill Land, who recently retired. Tobey, a native of Sandwich, Massachusetts, joins veteran commentator Sean Elliott in the broadcast booth and will debut during the upcoming preseason against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Previously, he worked as a weekend sports anchor at 9NEWS in Denver and has experience as a play-by-play announcer for networks like Fox Sports and PAC-12 Network. Spurs Senior Director of Broadcast Mike Kickirillo expressed confidence in Tobey's passion and sports knowledge, believing he will quickly win fans over. Tobey, a Suffolk University graduate, is also an advocate for his Native American heritage, representing the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and actively sharing his culture through music. Fans can look forward to his energetic commentary starting this preseason.
