Bill Hader, HBO Plan Jonestown Massacre Series

Bill Hader and Daniel Zelman are developing a new HBO drama series about Jim Jones and the Jonestown massacre, which took place in Guyana in 1978 and resulted in the deaths of over 900 Peoples Temple members. Both Hader and Zelman will co-write, co-showrun, and executive produce the project, with Hader also potentially directing and starring as Jones. The project follows Hader’s Emmy-winning run on ‘Barry’ for HBO. The Jonestown tragedy has been previously depicted in books, documentaries, a 1980 CBS miniseries, and more recently in an Apple TV+ series.
