Lumo Expands Low-Cost London-Glasgow Rail Services

New rail services and infrastructure developments are enhancing train travel options across the UK in 2025. Lumo, an affordable rail operator, is expanding its London King's Cross-Edinburgh route to include Glasgow, offering competitive fares aimed at passengers deterred by high prices on existing routes, with weekday and weekend services approved by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR). Additionally, the ORR has approved new train services on the East Coast Main Line by Lumo, Grand Central, and Hull Trains, improving direct connections between London and destinations such as Glasgow, Hull, Newcastle, and adding stops like Seaham, facilitating better access for holidaymakers and commuters alike. Grand Central is increasing services between Wakefield Kirkgate and Bradford Interchange, enhancing local travel options, while Hull Trains will add northbound services to Hull. Separately, Chelmsford is set to open its first new station in over a century, Beaulieu Park, in October 2025, to alleviate congestion and support local development, providing frequent trains to London Liverpool Street and East Anglia with ample parking facilities. These improvements reflect a broader effort to offer more affordable, convenient, and diverse rail travel options across the UK.
