New Terminal D Expansion Opens at IAH

George Bush Intercontinental Airport has officially opened the new Terminal D-West Pier, a significant part of its $1.458 billion redevelopment program aimed at enhancing international travel capacity. This 160,000-square-foot expansion introduces six new gates capable of accommodating both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft, along with various amenities designed to improve passenger experience, including a Sensory Room and a Child's Play Area. The facility features local art, a copper-colored ceiling inspired by Houston's oak trees, and over 500 seating options equipped with charging stations. The expansion, which began construction in November 2019, is expected to create 250 jobs and significantly boost the airport's capacity to handle increasing passenger traffic, especially during the holiday season. Travelers can also enjoy 16 new dining and retail options that showcase the city's cultural diversity. This initiative reinforces Houston's goal to become a major player in international travel.
