UK’s First Dedicated Electric Lorry Charging Hub Opens in Immingham

Milence, a joint venture between Daimler Truck, Traton Group, and Volvo Group, has opened the UK's first dedicated public charging hub for electric trucks in Immingham. The hub features four high-performance CCS chargers and eight charging bays, designed to significantly support heavy-duty transport between the UK and Europe. With plans to install at least 1,700 charging points across Europe by 2027, Milence aims to facilitate the transition to electric road transport, emphasizing accessibility and reliability in charging infrastructure. The strategically located hub, accessible from major motorways, is crucial for freight movement and is expected to promote the inclusion of electric trucks in daily logistics. CEO Anja van Niersen highlighted the importance of this hub as a first step in expanding electric vehicle corridors for heavy goods vehicles in the UK. Local officials praised the initiative, recognizing its potential as a groundbreaking advancement in sustainable transport technology.
