Wrong-way crash in Oceanside
A man in his 30s died in a wrong-way collision on state Route 76 in Oceanside shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday, while driving a tan Buick Century. He collided head-on with a white Honda Clarity driven by 20-year-old Stephanie Zamora, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Palomar Hospital. The deceased man suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, with his identity not immediately released. Authorities suspect that alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash, which is under investigation by the Oceanside Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team. A section of the highway was closed for about 2.5 hours as police responded to the incident. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Officer Kevin Lissner at 760-435-4651.
