Layton Richards, a 29-year-old from Portsmouth, has been sentenced to eight months in jail for stealing nearly 800 Cadbury Creme Eggs and other goods worth £3,463.96 from 19 stores across Hampshire, Dorset, and West Sussex. Richards was charged with 24 shoplifting offences that occurred between January 6 and April 18, 2024. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary emphasized that this conviction is part of a broader effort to target persistent offenders through enhanced collaboration with retailers. Chief Inspector Marcus Cator and Southern Co-op's Gareth J Lewis highlighted the importance of these partnerships in presenting stronger cases to the Crown Prosecution Service.
