Cincinnati Police Investigate Brutal Mob Attack on Couple Near Music Festival
A violent assault in downtown Cincinnati early Saturday morning left a man and a woman seriously injured, with the woman rendered unconscious after being hit and falling to the pavement. The attack occurred around 2:30 a.m. near Fourth and Elm streets, shortly after the Cincinnati Music Festival ended, and was captured in a viral video showing multiple assailants repeatedly beating the victims while bystanders recorded the violence instead of intervening. Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge strongly condemned the attack, describing it as 'cruel and absolutely unacceptable,' and confirmed the incident stemmed from a sudden dispute following a verbal altercation rather than being random. Police are actively investigating, reviewing security and traffic camera footage, and urging witnesses to come forward with information or recordings to help identify the attackers. The Cincinnati Fraternal Order of Police also criticized those who filmed the attack without assisting and expressed confidence that the perpetrators will be held accountable. Both victims were hospitalized and are now in stable condition, while community leaders have called for enhanced safety measures at large downtown events.
