EF-1 Tornado Confirmed in South Carolina
The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed multiple tornadoes across the Southeastern U.S. following severe storms on Sunday, including an EF-1 tornado in Meriwether County, Georgia, with winds of 90 mph and an EF-1 tornado in Fairfield County, South Carolina, reaching 95 mph. Reports of damage included fallen trees and power lines, with injuries reported in Douglasville due to a tree falling on a home. The NWS conducted damage surveys across various areas, identifying significant impact from a Quasi-Linear Convective System that produced strong winds and heavy rain. In total, about 40 tornadoes were reported from southeastern Texas to Alabama during this weather event, with at least two fatalities in Texas and Mississippi. Local cleanup efforts are underway as residents assess the damage and begin recovery efforts. NWS continues to monitor and survey the affected areas for further updates.
