XL Bully Attacks Mother, Dog in Mountsorrel, Owners Sentenced

In February 2024, Donna Mawby was severely injured when an XL Bully named Cookie attacked her and her French bulldog, Darcy, at their home in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire. The incident, captured on doorbell footage, showed Cookie charging towards them as Mrs. Mawby attempted to get inside and shut the door. After the attack, which resulted in significant injuries to Mrs. Mawby and her dog, Cookie was later destroyed, and its owners, Marecko Ratteray and Kerryan Bott, received 14-month suspended sentences from Leicester Crown Court. The court heard that the couple had failed to keep Cookie secure, which led to the attack. Neighbour Michael Page intervened but sustained a serious injury to his finger during the struggle. Mrs. Mawby expressed gratitude that her children were not harmed during the frightening ordeal.
