Ari Aster's Eddington Plans Cannes Debut, Summer Release

Ari Aster's upcoming thriller 'Eddington' is set to be released in summer 2025, with production currently in post-production after starting in March 2024. The film, a contemporary western starring Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal, and Austin Butler, follows a couple who find themselves in a small New Mexico town that turns sinister by night. A24 is targeting a Cannes Film Festival debut and will present the film at the European Film Market in Berlin, seeking international buyers. The narrative reportedly explores themes of rivalry and societal issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, featuring references to contemporary political figures and events. Cinematographer Darius Khondji, known for his work on notable films, is attached to the project. This film marks the sixth collaboration between Aster and A24, following their successful partnership on previous projects like 'Hereditary' and 'Midsommar.'
