He could be the first player to win an ATP event after losing the first set in every match if he emerges victorious against either Holger Rune or Borna Coric in the final. Bublik, the second seed, had previously defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semifinal and is already guaranteed a career-high ranking of 23rd. Fellow Kazakhstani Yulia Putintseva won the WTA event in the same city.
