Michigan Man Charged Holding Woman Captive Week, Sexual Assault

William Paul Thompson, a 22-year-old homeless man from Mount Pleasant, Michigan, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies after allegedly holding a 21-year-old woman captive for a week in a tent and repeatedly sexually assaulting her. The suspect reportedly used a weapon to threaten the woman during the captivity. The woman managed to escape and contacted police, who found evidence supporting her account and arrested Thompson. He faces charges including first-degree criminal sexual conduct, unlawful imprisonment, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, carrying a concealed weapon, and felonious assault with a dangerous weapon. Thompson was arraigned and is being held on a $1 million bond, with a probable cause conference scheduled. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment.
