Betts, known for her work on 'The Burial,' will also co-write the screenplay with Liz Tigelaar. The story follows reclusive Hollywood star Evelyn Hugo as she recounts her life, including her seven marriages, to an unknown reporter. The adaptation has gained significant attention, particularly on social media, and has been in development since Netflix acquired the rights in 2022. Taylor Jenkins Reid, the author, will serve as an executive producer alongside Margaret Chernin, with Liza Chasin producing.
