Petra Kvitova to Return to WTA Tour Post-Maternity

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova is set to return to the WTA Tour later this month following a 15-month maternity leave. Kvitova, who last competed at the China Open in October 2023, gave birth to her son, Petr, in July 2024, and will begin her comeback at the WTA 250 ATX Open in Austin, Texas, from February 24 to March 2. She will also participate in the WTA 1000 events at Indian Wells and Miami in March, expressing excitement about returning to competition and reconnecting with her fans. Kvitova, who has won 31 WTA singles titles, including two Wimbledon titles in 2011 and 2014, announced her pregnancy in January 2024 with her husband and coach, Jiri Vanek. Before her break, she was in excellent form, winning titles in Miami and Berlin in 2023, finishing the year ranked world No. 14. Her return places her among a select group of elite players who have returned to tennis after motherhood, such as Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka.
