Hong Kong Airport Authority Acquires Stake in Zhuhai Airport

The Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has signed an agreement to acquire a 35% stake in Zhuhai Airport for approximately CNY 4.3 billion, marking a significant investment aimed at enhancing cooperation with Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) and fostering the development of a world-class airport cluster in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The agreement was signed by AAHK's Acting CEO Vivian Cheung and Zhuhai Transportation Holding Group's Chairman Chen Weijia, with several prominent officials in attendance. Fred Lam, Chairman of AAHK, emphasized that this collaboration will boost passenger and cargo traffic at Zhuhai Airport and improve global connectivity for travelers from Zhuhai and surrounding cities. The acquisition is also part of AAHK's ongoing efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and service quality at Zhuhai Airport, extending management rights until 2046. This strategic move is supported by the Central and Guangdong Provincial Governments, further integrating the two airports within the region's aviation industry.
