Castleford Tigers Confirm Semi Valemei Signing from North Queensland Cowboys
Castleford Tigers have secured the signing of Fiji international winger Semi Valemei from the North Queensland Cowboys on a two-year deal starting in 2026. Valemei, who has scored 23 tries in 46 NRL appearances for Canberra Raiders and the Cowboys, brings proven speed, power, and try-scoring ability to the Super League side. The signing is part of Castleford's recruitment drive under new head coach Ryan Carr, with Valemei joining fellow NRL recruits Mikaele Ravalawa, Brock Greacen, and Blake Taaffe. Valemei expressed excitement about the move, citing the club's vision and the passionate fan base, as well as the opportunity to play alongside a friend. Director of Rugby Chris Chester praised Valemei's talents and looks forward to fans watching him in the Super League. The winger has also represented Fiji internationally seven times, including scoring in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.
