NYPD Shoots Man After Alleged Meat Cleaver Attack on Four Girls in Brooklyn

A 49-year-old man, Longqian Chen, was shot by NYPD officers after he allegedly attacked his four young relatives with a meat cleaver in a Brooklyn apartment. The incident began when an 11-year-old girl, who managed to lock herself in a room, called 911 to report the assault on herself and her siblings aged 8, 11, and 16. Upon arrival, police heard screams and forced their way into the home, where they confronted Chen, who was armed and covered in blood. After ignoring commands to drop the weapon and advancing towards the officers, Chen was shot multiple times and is currently in critical condition. All four children sustained serious injuries but are expected to survive. The motive for the attack is still under investigation, as Chen had no prior arrest record and had previously been treated for mental health issues.
