Aaron Pierre Cast as John Stewart in 'Lanterns'

Aaron Pierre has been confirmed to play John Stewart in HBO's upcoming Green Lantern series, 'Lanterns,' alongside Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan. The series, part of the new DC Universe slate, will follow the two Green Lanterns as they investigate a murder on Earth with broader galactic implications. Inspired by 'True Detective,' the show is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with Mundy serving as the showrunner. James Hawes will direct the first two episodes, and the series will consist of an eight-episode run. Originally intended as a Max original, 'Lanterns' has been moved to HBO as part of a strategic shift in content branding. A release date is yet to be announced, but the series is a significant component of DC Studios' new interconnected universe.
