Royal Mail Celebrates The Vicar of Dibley with Stamps

Royal Mail is set to release a collection of 12 stamps celebrating the beloved BBC comedy series 'The Vicar of Dibley', which aired from 1994 to 2007, featuring Dawn French as Reverend Geraldine Granger. The stamps showcase iconic scenes, including Geraldine jumping into a deep puddle and officiating at a chaotic wedding, with contributions from characters like Jim Trott and Alice Tinker. David Gold, Royal Mail's director, praised the show's superb writing and character warmth, highlighting its status as one of the most cherished TV comedies. The collection will officially launch on January 14 and includes various denominations, with special moments captured on each stamp. The series, created by Richard Curtis, was inspired by the Church of England's decision to ordain women, adding a historical context to its comedic narratives. This release coincides with the show's 30th anniversary, further underscoring its cultural significance.
