Covestro Achieves Net-Zero Electricity at Four US Sites

Covestro has announced that four of its U.S. sites have achieved net-zero Scope 2 electricity emissions through Renewable Energy Certificates, thanks to a virtual Power Purchase Agreement with Ørsted that provides 90 MW of renewable energy capacity. This initiative is expected to reduce approximately 90,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually and is part of Covestro's broader goal of climate-neutral production by 2035. The sites in Channelview, South Deerfield, New Martinsville, and Pittsburgh have all reached this milestone, with South Deerfield, New Martinsville, and Pittsburgh achieving complete net-zero emissions. Covestro's CTO emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability and the circular economy, while the Chairman highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving change. This achievement positions Covestro at the forefront of sustainable practices in the chemical sector.
