CPL Announces 2024 Player of the Year Nominees

The Canadian Premier League has announced its nominees for the 2024 Player of the Year award, highlighting exceptional performances throughout the season. The nominees include Tobias Warschewski of Cavalry, who topped the league with 14 goals, Alessandro Hojabrpour of Hammers, recognized for his defensive prowess, and Kyle Bekker of Forge FC, noted for his leadership and engine-like performance. In the Premier League, unexpected upsets occurred as both Manchester City and Arsenal suffered defeats, raising questions about the demands of competing at the top. Liverpool currently leads the league and has two players featured in the Premier League XI of the season so far, including Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. Additionally, three players from Athlone Town have been nominated for the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division Player of the Year, alongside nominees from Shelbourne.
