The Patna High Court has commuted the death sentences of four individuals convicted for their roles in the 2013 bomb blasts during Narendra Modi's Hunkar Rally in Gandhi Maidan to life imprisonment. The convicts, Haider Ali, Mojibullah, Noman, and Imtiaz, were initially sentenced to death by a special NIA court after the incident resulted in six deaths and numerous injuries. The High Court upheld the life sentences of two other convicts, Umar and Azharuddin, while dismissing their appeals for reduced sentences. Defence counsel Imran Ghani indicated plans to appeal the High Court's decision to the Supreme Court. The bomb blasts, which caused widespread panic, were a significant event during Modi's campaign for Prime Minister. The case's investigation involved testimonies from 187 witnesses and was closely monitored by the NIA.
