Mercury to Retire Taurasi's Jersey in 2026

Diana Taurasi, widely regarded as the greatest WNBA player of all time, will have her No. 3 jersey retired and be inducted into the Phoenix Mercury's Ring of Honor during the 2026 WNBA season, following her retirement announcement on February 25, 2023. Taurasi's illustrious 20-year career with the Mercury includes three WNBA championships, a league MVP award, and the distinction of being the all-time leading scorer, with 10,646 points. In addition to her domestic achievements, Taurasi is a six-time Olympic gold medalist, the most for any basketball player, male or female. The ceremony will see her join five other legends in the Mercury's Ring of Honor. Mat Ishbia, owner of the Phoenix Mercury, lauded Taurasi's contributions, highlighting her numerous accolades and influence both on and off the court. A specific date for the induction and jersey retirement has yet to be announced.
