WeRide Launches Europe's First Fully Driverless Robobus Service in France

WeRide Inc has announced the launch of Europe’s first fully autonomous commercial Robobus service in Valence, France, in partnership with beti, Renault Group, and Macif, set to begin on March 10. This Level 4 automated shuttle service will operate along a 3.3-kilometer route, connecting key locations such as the Valence TGV station and a business park, facilitating eco-friendly transportation for local employees and visitors. Each six-meter-long Robobus can carry up to eight passengers and will undergo a trial period from March 10 to April 19 to assess its safety and efficiency before a full launch in July. Jennifer Li, CFO of WeRide, emphasized the company's leveraging of its experience in Asian and Middle Eastern markets to enhance its presence in Europe. The project aims to provide a low-carbon transport solution while ensuring safety through beti’s advanced “hypervision” technology. This deployment represents a significant milestone for WeRide as it expands into the European market amid ongoing advancements in autonomous driving technology.
