Denver Breaks Ground on Affordable Housing Project

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, alongside community leaders, has broken ground on The Hattie McDaniel, an affordable housing project in the Five Points neighborhood. This development will consist of 62 condos available to families earning up to 80% of the area median income, with a strong emphasis on promoting homeownership as a means to build wealth. In Calgary, officials have also launched a transitional housing project in Whitehorn aimed at assisting families at risk of homelessness, featuring 52 units to provide urgent housing solutions. Meanwhile, Lake County has initiated its Housing @ 10,200 Ft. project, which will include 24 units in duplexes, backed by significant funding from local and state sources. All three initiatives reflect a growing commitment across various regions to address housing affordability and support vulnerable populations. Mayor Johnston has expressed a desire for more similar projects in Denver to combat the rising housing crisis.
