Royal Caribbean Rescues About 10–12 From Raft

On the evening of Sept. 28, 2025, Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas, which had diverted to avoid Hurricane Humberto and Tropical Storm Imelda, encountered a makeshift raft while sailing between Tampa and Costa Maya in the Caribbean Sea between Cuba and Mexico. The ship stopped, launched a rescue boat and brought roughly 10–12 people aboard after passengers filmed the raft reportedly falling apart. Those taken onboard were given water, basic care and dry clothes and are due to be handed over to authorities at the next port. Footage of the nighttime rescue was widely shared online, and the incident is one of several recent rescues involving Royal Caribbean vessels.
