BBC, Paramount+ Race to Air Ozzy Osbourne Documentaries
Following the death of Ozzy Osbourne at age 76, two documentaries chronicling the final years of the legendary Black Sabbath frontman are set to be released, with the BBC and Paramount+ competing to be first. Both documentaries were filmed with unprecedented access to Ozzy and his family over the last three years and have the approval of the Osbourne family, focusing on his battle with Parkinson's disease and his farewell concert in Birmingham just days before his death. Paramount+ announced "Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now," which portrays the rocker's harsh new realities and his wife Sharon's efforts to support his final performance, while the BBC's project, initially titled "Home to Roost," follows the Osbournes' return to England after years in Los Angeles. Additionally, Sony is developing a biopic on Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, with Lee Hall writing the screenplay and the production moving forward, although the film is expected to release later than the documentaries. The documentaries and film aim to respectfully portray Ozzy Osbourne's life, struggles, and legacy, with contributions from his family and music colleagues. The Osbourne family's involvement underscores the intent to create authentic and respectful tributes to the metal icon.
