Bernad Seeks Sole Custody, Accuses Sia of Drug Use
Daniel Bernad filed court papers seeking sole legal and physical custody of his son Somersault “Summi” Bernad, asking for $77,245 a month in child support (and earlier seeking roughly $250,000 a month in spousal support) and requesting visits be limited to three two‑hour monitored sessions with drug testing. Bernad alleges Sia was secretly hospitalized in September, tested positive for barbiturates and benzodiazepines, delegated primary caregiving to nannies, and that the child’s safety is at risk. Sia denies the allegations, says she has been sober for more than six months, is in a treatment program with regular testing and a sober companion, and calls his claims an attempt to weaponize her past sobriety. Sia has countered that Bernad was investigated over alleged illicit child‑pornography material found on a hard drive and says that inquiry led to earlier restrictions on his visits; Bernad vehemently denies those allegations and says evidence was planted. Both parties accuse each other of endangering their son and of financial and caregiving failings — Bernad says he lost income after Sia stopped funding their company Modern Medicine, while Sia says he refuses regular drug testing and leads a nightlife lifestyle — and the competing filings are pending in Los Angeles Superior Court with no court decision yet.
