First UK Sheep and US Dairy Herd Bird Flu Cases

In the UK, the first case of H5N1 bird flu in sheep has been confirmed in Yorkshire, with the infected ewe being humanely culled, and no further infections detected in the flock. Meanwhile, in the US, Minnesota has detected H5N1 in a dairy herd in Stearns County, marking the first such detection since last summer. Although 70 human cases have been reported in the US, primarily among those with direct exposure to infected animals, there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission.
