Denver Advances $70M NWSL Stadium, Park Projects

The Denver City Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Broadway Station Metropolitan District to support a new 14,500-seat National Women's Soccer League stadium at Santa Fe Yards, authorizing up to $70 million for land acquisition and infrastructure improvements. The proposed stadium, expected to open in 2028 and built by the NWSL ownership group at an estimated $200 million, would be one of only two dedicated women's sports stadiums in the U.S. However, the council's vote does not yet commit city funds, as decisions on rezoning and appropriations will follow later in the year. The project is positioned as a transformative redevelopment of an underused area, though concerns remain about the city's limited budget and other capital needs. In addition, the council approved a land swap to create a large new park on the site of the former Park Hill Golf Course. Both developments are described as generational investments, pending further council action and public input.
