Denmark, Singapore Lead Global Corruption Perceptions Index 2024

The 2024 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) by Transparency International reveals Denmark as the least corrupt country globally for the seventh consecutive year, scoring 90. Finland follows closely in second place with a score of 88, while Singapore has climbed to third with a score of 84, marking its highest ranking since 2020. In contrast, South Sudan remains the most corrupt nation, scoring just 8 points. The report indicates a worrying trend, with global corruption levels described as 'alarmingly high,' as many countries saw their lowest scores since the current methodology was adopted in 2012. The United States has also experienced a decline, slipping from 69 points to 65 and falling to 28th place. The findings underscore the urgent need for effective anti-corruption measures worldwide, particularly in regions struggling with governance and transparency issues.
