Murasoli Selvam, former editor of the DMK's mouthpiece 'Murasoli' and brother-in-law of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, passed away in Bengaluru at the age of 84 due to cardiac arrest. Known for his significant contributions to Tamil journalism and the DMK party, Selvam was the nephew of the late Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and brother of former Union Minister Murasoli Maran. He was revered for his editorial work and advocacy for press freedom, often writing under the pseudonym Silanthi to address political issues. Chief Minister Stalin expressed profound grief, calling Selvam his 'ideological pillar' and 'last shoulder to lean on.' Tributes from political leaders and film industry figures highlighted his impact on Tamil Nadu's political landscape. His final rites are currently being arranged with senior DMK leaders overseeing preparations.
