Charges Dropped Against Late Daim Zainuddin

The prosecution has withdrawn charges against the late Tun Daim Zainuddin for failing to declare his assets, following his death on November 13. The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, presided by Judge Azura Alwi, granted a discharge and acquittal under the Criminal Procedure Code after the prosecution expressed they would not pursue the case. Daim's widow, Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid, urged that the charges should not be dropped, emphasizing the need to clear her husband's name. Despite the prosecution's decision, Daim's attorney asserted that it was Daim's wish for the trial to continue to address what he viewed as baseless charges. The ruling was made alongside condolences extended to Daim's family. As a result, all charges against him have been officially acquitted.
