Police Clear Pro-Palestinian Encampment at Wayne State

A university spokesman has confirmed that police have moved in to disband a pro-Palestinian camp on the Wayne State University campus in Detroit. The camp, which was set up last week, had been demanding that the university divest from companies and investment funds linked to Israel. The university had been trying to encourage those involved to leave the camp voluntarily, but announced this morning that it would be clearing it citing "ongoing public safety issues" and a "lack of resources to allow it to continue." Seven arrests have been made. The clearing of the camp comes a week after a similar camp at the nearby University of Michigan was disbanded.
