Ireland Captain Paul Stirling Reaches 10,000 International Runs

Paul Stirling made history by becoming the first-ever Irish cricketer to surpass 10,000 international runs across all formats during the first ODI against the West Indies in Dublin. Stirling reached the milestone after completing his 37th run in the match, finishing with 54 runs off 64 balls, which included six boundaries and two sixes. This achievement places him among an elite group as the 97th cricketer globally to reach 10,000 runs, further cementing his status as Ireland's most prolific batter, with Andrew Balbirnie and Kevin O'Brien trailing significantly behind. Stirling, who debuted internationally in 2008, has scored 14 ODI centuries and one T20I century and is closing in on 6,000 ODI runs alone. The milestone came as part of a strong opening partnership with Balbirnie, contributing to Ireland's competitive total against the West Indies in a key series for ICC World Cup 2027 qualification. Young Irish talent Harry Tector is also noted as an emerging star, ranking fifth among Ireland's top run-scorers.
