Tajinderpal Toor Fails to Qualify for Finals
Indian shot-putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor failed to qualify for the finals at the Paris Olympics, finishing 15th in Group A with a best throw of 18.05 meters, far short of his personal best of 21.77 meters. Despite his credentials as a two-time Asian Games gold medallist, he could not advance among the top 12 performers needed to qualify for the finals. Toor had complained of ankle pain prior to the competition, which may have affected his performance. His disappointing showing was mirrored by Indian 5000m runners Parul Chaudhary and Ankita Dhyani, who also failed to qualify for their event finals. Italy's Leonardo Fabbri led the shot put qualifications with a throw of 21.76 meters. Toor's elimination marks a premature end to his Paris Olympics journey.
