Six-Year-Old Girl Dies After Rescue From Norton Pond
A six-year-old girl with autism was reported missing in Norton, Massachusetts, around 2:28 p.m. and was later found deceased in a partially-frozen pond. Emergency responders, including local police and firefighters, quickly began searching Barrowsville Pond, located near her home. Divers located the girl in the water at 3:27 p.m., and despite life-saving efforts during transport to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Police Chief Brian Clark expressed condolences, noting the tragedy particularly affected the responders, many of whom are parents themselves. Authorities do not suspect foul play, and the investigation is ongoing. The community mourns the loss of the young girl as officials continue to provide updates on the situation.
