New Zealand Names Test Squad Without Williamson For Zimbabwe Tour

New Zealand Cricket has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, notably without captain Kane Williamson and all-rounder Michael Bracewell, who are unavailable due to their commitments in T20 leagues such as Middlesex, The Hundred, and Major League Cricket. Coach Rob Walter highlighted that both players were transparent about their availability during contract negotiations, and the fact that the series is not part of the ICC World Test Championship influenced the discussions. The squad will be led by Tom Latham and includes the return of experienced players Ajaz Patel and Henry Nicholls, who will compete for Williamson's traditional batting position. The bowling attack will see new faces with 25-year-old pacer Matt Fisher earning his maiden Test call-up due to his impressive domestic record, while Kyle Jamieson and Ben Sears are unavailable due to personal reasons and injury, respectively. Jacob Duffy, a top-ranked T20 bowler, is also in line for a Test debut. The two-Test series starting July 30 in Bulawayo offers New Zealand an opportunity to test their bench strength and integrate young talent as they build for the future.
