Trump Border Czar Seeks DOJ Probe of CNN ICE Reporting

President Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, and other MAGA allies have called for the Department of Justice to investigate CNN following the network's coverage of ICEBlock, an app that allows users to anonymously report Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity to alert others. Homan condemned CNN's reporting as "disgusting" and "horrendous," accusing the network of endangering federal law enforcement officers by publicizing the app during heightened ICE deportation efforts. ICE acting director Todd Lyons also criticized the app and CNN's coverage, warning it puts officers at risk amid a significant rise in assaults against ICE personnel. The app's creator, Joshua Aaron, defended ICEBlock as an early warning system intended solely for information and notification, not to incite violence or interfere with law enforcement. Despite assertions from Trump allies, CNN's segment did not promote or condone the app's use but reported on its existence and purpose. Attorney General Pam Bondi also condemned CNN, while critics argue that the media coverage is being unfairly targeted amid the administration's aggressive immigration policies.
