An iconic cherry-red Gibson ES-355 electric guitar used by Noel Gallagher of British rock band Oasis sold at auction in London for £289,800, significantly below its £500,000 estimate. The guitar is famous for being damaged during a 2009 backstage fight between Noel and his brother Liam Gallagher, which led to the band's breakup and the cancellation of their performance at the Rock en Seine festival. After being repaired, the guitar had previously sold for €385,000 at a Paris auction in 2022. Oasis announced a worldwide reunion tour for 2025, which they are currently preparing. Alongside the guitar, handwritten lyrics by Noel Gallagher sold for £75,600, while memorabilia such as Elvis Presley's sunglasses and Michael Jackson's white Fedora hat from the "Smooth Criminal" video sold for £75,600 and £50,400 respectively. The auction highlights the enduring legacy and cultural impact of Oasis and its members.
