Commanders’ Terry McLaurin Returns Camp on PUP List with Ankle Injury
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin ended his holdout and reported to training camp but was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list due to an ankle injury that dates back to the end of the 2024 season. McLaurin arrived without a new contract and continues to seek a deal in the $130-132 million range, similar to recent contracts signed by other top wide receivers, but his age of 30 is a concern for the team. While on the PUP list, McLaurin will work with trainers and cannot be fined for missing practices, though it remains uncertain if or when he will participate in on-field activities. Commanders coach Dan Quinn praised McLaurin as an excellent competitor eager to play once healthy, and general manager Adam Peters emphasized ongoing good-faith negotiations aiming to keep McLaurin with the team. Despite frustrations over contract talks and missed practices that have cost McLaurin fines exceeding $300,000, he remains confident in his value as one of the league's top receivers. The situation remains fluid as both sides continue negotiations amid McLaurin's recovery and limited team involvement.
