Bass, Caruso, LA Strong Sports Announce Palisades Recreation Center Rebuild

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has announced a public-private partnership to rebuild the Palisades Recreation Center, which was severely damaged in January's wildfires. Teaming up with businessman Rick Caruso and Lakers coach JJ Redick, Bass emphasized the importance of restoring this community landmark, which serves as a hub for local activities. The partnership includes nonprofits LA Strong Sports and Steadfast LA, both committed to enhancing recreational facilities in the area. Redick, who lost his home in the fires, reflected on the center's significance for community bonding and youth activities. Plans for the rebuild have been drawn up, although a timeline and cost estimate have yet to be finalized, with the project expected to take 18 to 24 months. Bass reiterated the city’s commitment to eliminating obstacles to reconstruction, aiming for a collaborative approach to recovery.
