A 36-year-old lawyer, Raghvendra Singh, was shot dead by the security manager, Hadendu Shekhar Tripathi, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh following a heated argument during a New Year's Eve party. Tripathi, under the influence of alcohol, retaliated to Singh’s caste-based remark by firing his licensed pistol, resulting in Singh's death. The accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The incident has left a pall of gloom over New Year’s celebrations and underscores the need for sensitivity and respect for all individuals, regardless of their caste or social standing.
