John Boyega, Danielle Deadwyler Cast in Otis Redding Biopic

John Boyega and Danielle Deadwyler are set to star in 'Otis & Zelma', a biopic about the legendary soul singer Otis Redding and his widow, Zelma. Directed by Channing Godfrey Peoples, the film chronicles their decade-long relationship and Redding's musical legacy, which includes hits like '(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay' and 'Respect'. Tragically, Redding died in a plane crash at age 26, leaving behind Zelma and their three children. The film, supported by Redding's estate and Zelma herself, emphasizes her resilience in preserving his legacy for over five decades. It is written by playwright Donnetta Lavinia Grays with revisions by Peoples. The news comes as Redding is set to be posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on October 4.
