Gene Hackman’s Art Collection Golden Globes Expected to Sell at November Auctions in New York

The late actor Gene Hackman's extensive collection of art and personal memorabilia is set to be auctioned by Bonhams in November, including three separate sales with both live and online components. The collection features his personal artworks, annotated books, movie scripts, and several prestigious Golden Globe awards for films such as Unforgiven and The Royal Tenenbaums, as well as his Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. Hackman, who passed away in February at age 95, was not only a celebrated actor but also an accomplished artist and collector, with his collection including works by Milton Avery, Auguste Rodin, and Richard Diebenkorn. The live auction on November 19 in New York will highlight 13 works of modern and American art, including a Milton Avery painting estimated between $500,000 and $700,000. Hackman's passion for art deepened after retiring from acting, reflecting his disciplined and thoughtful artistic sensibility.
